Cari fratelli e sorelle, lavoratori e lavoratrici,

Siamo i lavoratori bengalesi di Sant'Antimo, e con l'Associazione "3 Febbraio" stiamo lottando per la dignità e i diritti. Vogliamo offrire la nostra lotta a tutti voi, come esempio di unità, solidarietà e fratellanza. Siamo trattati da schiavi, ma vogliamo alzare la testa: siamo esseri umani come ognuno di voi!
Ricordiamo con tristezza i nostri fratelli e sorelle morti a Dacca ( capitale del Bangladesh) solo un anno fa, nella palazzina crollata dove lavoravano per le multinazionali ( alcune anche italiane). Quelle stesse multinazionali dell'abbigliamento che oggi ci schiavizzano qui, e che ricattano anche voi, richiedendovi di dimezzarvi lo stipendio per poter continuare a lavorare.
Questo è il discorso che hanno sempre fatto, e lo fanno ancora oggi a noi immigrati. Hanno speculato sulla nostra miseria creando divisioni tra noi e voi.
Ma sapete perché, tante volte, ci accontentiamo di pochi euro all'ora per lavorare e viviamo in condizioni difficili? È perché nei nostri paesi la miseria creata da questo sistema, di cui anche la civile Italia fa parte, ci rende ancora più poveri. Con 20 euro dalle nostre parti si può mangiare per un mese. Nelle nostre terre migliaia di bambini, donne e uomini non hanno accesso all'acqua potabile e rischiano di morire per fame ogni giorno. Pensate che abbiamo fatto migliaia di chilometri per togliere il lavoro a qualcuno o farci ridurre qui in schiavitù? Beh, se lo pensate vi spieghiamo meglio come stanno le cose. Se siete disposti a capirci, mettendovi nei nostri panni, ne saremo lieti.
Oggi vi chiediamo una mano. Sappiamo bene che anche voi soffrite per la mancanza di lavoro ma la strada per risolvere i problemi non è nell'egoismo e nella divisione; è nella fratellanza e nella solidarietà.
Uniamoci contro la schiavitù e lo sfruttamento; insieme possiamo guadagnare i diritti per tutti. Noi ci crediamo! E voi? Non c'è un prima e un dopo: chi sfrutta ha già dimostrato che sacrifica al suo profitto tanto gli italiani che gli immigrati. Allora, cosa abbiamo da perdere?
Vi chiediamo aiuto, e vi diamo aiuto con la nostra lotta, con la nostra dignità, con il nostro coraggio. Facciamo appello a tutta la gente di buona volontà, a quei cristiani che vogliono essere a fianco degli ultimi perché possano migliorare la loro vita, a chi crede nella giustizia, ai giovani che sperano in un futuro migliore: costruiamolo insieme! La nostra lotta è per tutti voi.
Oggi noi stiamo esponendo le nostre vite al pericolo: sappiamo che c'è il rischio che a pagare siano sempre i più poveri. Lo abbiamo visto anche nel caso della strage di Lampedusa: addirittura, sono stati incriminati gli stessi naufraghi. Oggi è probabile che una giustizia ingiusta faccia pagare i lavoratori, i quali, purtroppo, per bisogno, e perché lo stato non ci ha regolarizzati, hanno dovuto accettare queste condizioni.
Vi chiediamo di sostenere la nostra denuncia di riduzione in schiavitù, e che sia dato un soggiorno per motivi umanitari a tutti noi che denunciamo l'ingiustizia e lo sfruttamento. Se ci riusciremo, sarà un bene per tutti.
Vi ringraziamo dell'attenzione. Vi salutiamo. Continueremo in nome della comune umanità a lottare per i diritti di tutti.

Dear brothers and sisters, working men and women,

We are Bangladeshi workers in Sant’Antimo (Napoli – Italy), and, togheter with the Antiracist Interethnic Association “3 Febbraio”, we are fighting for the dignity and rights. We want to offer our fight to all of you, as an example of unity, solidarity and brotherhood. We are treated as slaves, but we want to raise our heads: we are human beings like every one of you!
We remember with sadness for our brothers and sisters who died in Dhaka (capital of Bangladesh) only a year ago, in the collapsed building where they worked for multinationals (and some of those multinationals were Italian). Those same multinationals that enslave us here today, and that even blackmail you, prompting you to halve your wages to keep your jobs.
This is what that they have always said, and still they tell this to us immigrants. They have speculated on our misery by creating divisions between us and you.
But do you know why, so often, we settle for a few Euros per hour to work and live in difficult conditions? It's because in our countries the misery created by this system, of which civil Italy is a part, makes us even poorer. With 20 euros in our country you can eat for a month. In our lands, thousands of children, women and men do not have access to drinking water, and they risk of dying from hunger every day. Do you really think that we've done thousands of miles to take someone else's jobs or to be reduced in slavery here, in Europe? Well, if you think so, let us explain better to you how things really are. If you're willing to understand us, putting yourselves in our shoes, we will be delighted.
Today we ask you to give us a hand. We know that you suffer for lack of work, but the way to solve problems is not selfishness and division; it is brotherhood and solidarity.
Let us unite against slavery and exploitation! Together, we can gain the rights for all. We believe it! And you? There is not someone coming first and someone coming after: exploiters and slavers have already shown that they are ready to sacrifice Italians and immigrants alike to increase their profits. So what we have to lose?
We ask you to help us, and we give you our help with our struggle, with our dignity, our courage. We appeal to all people of good will, to those Christians who want to stand to the side of the last ones to better their lives, to those who believe in justice, to young people who hope for a better future: let’s build it together! Our struggle is for all of you.
Today we are exposing our lives to danger: we know that there is a risk that the poorest will be the ones to pay. We have seen it, even in the case of the massacre of Lampedusa: the castaways, the survivors, have even been charged with criminal offenses! Today, it is likely that an unjust justice would make the workers pay: those same workers who, unfortunately, out of need, and because the state would not regularize us, have had to accept these inhuman working conditions.
We ask you to support our denunciation of slavery, so that a humanitarian residence permit is given to all of us who denounce injustice and exploitation. If we will do it, it will be good for everyone.
Thanks for your attention. We send you our greetings. We will continue in the name of common humanity to fight for the rights of all.
